UAE travel: Emirates extends Tehran flight suspension to July 15
Flydubai and Air Arabia resume flights to multiple Iranian cities
DUBAI’s flagship airline Emirates has extended the suspension of its flights to and from Tehran until 15 July 2025, citing “operational reasons”.
This move follows continued regional tensions and airspace complications affecting carriers across the Middle East.
In a passenger advisory, Emirates clarified that those transiting through Dubai en route to Tehran will not be accepted for travel from their departure airports. The airline urged customers to keep their contact details updated for timely notifications.
“We continue to monitor developments closely,” Emirates said, adding that passenger, crew and operational safety remains its top priority. The suspension is seen as a precautionary step amid ongoing instability.
Airspace challenges
The temporary disruption follows weeks of heightened geopolitical tensions between Iran and Israel earlier in June, which led to widespread airspace closures and rerouting of flights. Though the situation has stabilised, carriers remain cautious as air traffic over Iranian skies is still considered sensitive.
Global airlines have faced increased flight durations, rerouting, and scheduling uncertainty in the wake of these developments. While Emirates has resumed regional flights to destinations like Baghdad and Basra, Tehran remains off its operational map.
Other UAE carriers
In contrast, Flydubai resumed services to Tehran, Bandar Abbas, Mashhad, Lar and Shiraz from 4 July 2025. Flights are currently operating, although passengers are advised to verify schedules frequently.
Air Arabia also restored flights to Tehran, Shiraz and Lar on 6 July 2025, following a temporary suspension that ended on 30 June. Operations are running as scheduled, with possible minor delays.
Travellers are advised to check the latest status via their airline’s Manage Booking portals, maintain updated contact details, and remain prepared for last-minute changes due to the region’s volatile airspace conditions.
